observation:
you are NOT desperate or any less of a man than most people. devising ingenuous methods of getting girls is a common preoccupation among males of almost any age: some just spend more time on it than others.

suggestion:
pheromones are as strong as you are. meaning, if you are seen as a potential mate, your pheromones the female of the species will be attracted towards you. we are all driven by primal mating instincts (thus the common preoccupation with breasts: the better they are, the more chance of the baby being well fed and healthy; of that with the hips: broad and shapely meaning child bearing capacity .. etc).
In other words, if you just forget about what girls might like and do your thing, you could end up being mr. cool. everyone likes a guy who knows his own mind.
also, for the basic physical part of the pheromone production, work out a bit: remember, potential mates had to fight dinosaurs for survival ! if you are physically and psychologically fit, without insecurities, and reasonably satisfied with your life as it stands, you are more likely to be able to make it better.

one last bit:
If you don’t stink, then don’t mask your natural scent with unnecessary deodorants.
